History comes to life at Ohio Village. When you visit our recreated 19th century community, you'll meet villagers with fascinating stories, tour the buildings and homes, and try your hand at some 1890s activities. We're currently open for special events. Your support is needed now and will help support our staff, programs and field trip activities all year.

Nearly two thousand years ago, American Indians created an awe-inspiring culture rooted in the land we now call Ohio. They built vast earthworks as gathering places that aligned to the sun and moon. People came from near and far, traveling across land and sea to join together. Here, earth, water, sky and people met in sacred connection. On September 19, 2023, the Hopewell Ceremonial Earthworks were officially inscribed on UNESCO’s World Heritage list. This is the beginning of a new chapter, and we need your support.

The History Fund is a competitive matching grant program that supports community history across our state. The History Fund is supported by your donations, as well as contributions through the Ohio History Fund state income tax “check-off” and sales of Ohio History “mastodon” license plates. The size and number of grants each year depends on you. Help Ohio’s local history organizations preserve and promote our shared heritage with your gift.
